At Á Dông, the culinary offerings center around their much-lauded pho, a soul-warming broth that boasts a deep, beefy richness and perfectly balanced seasoning. The noodles are tender yet pleasantly chewy, while the array of meats—especially the succulent meatballs—elevate each bowl to a sublime experience, as praised by loyal customer Logan Crump who raves about their “top-notch” pho that keeps him coming back time and time again.
Beyond pho, the menu is impressively diverse, showcasing quintessential Vietnamese staples. Their bánh mì sandwiches stand out with options like Bánh Mì Thịt Ba Chỉ (pork belly), Bánh Mì Thịt Nướng (grilled pork), and Bánh Mì Gà Nướng (grilled chicken), each generously packed with fresh, crunchy pickled vegetables, fragrant herbs, and house-made sauces that create irresistible layers of flavor and texture. These sandwiches, priced around $12.50, are perfect for a quick, satisfying meal that doesn’t compromise on quality.
The noodle and rice dishes also merit attention, from the flavorful Hu Tieu and Special Combination Pho to the delightfully savory fried rice selections such as Cơm Chiên Hải Sản (seafood fried rice) and Cơm Chiên Đậu Hũ (tofu fried rice). The rice plates with grilled proteins like Cơm Tôm, Thịt Nướng (shrimp and grilled pork) provide a hearty and well-rounded meal, perfect for those craving deeper, satisfying flavors highlighted by tender, marinated meats that are grilled to perfection.
Á Dông also excels with its appetizers and smaller bites—crisp spring rolls, crispy fried egg rolls, and the savory Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese sizzling pancakes) offer a delightful prelude or accompaniment to the main courses. As one satisfied guest noted, the wings here are equally crave-worthy, a testament to the diverse appeal of their menu.

Their pho is absolutely top notch. The broth is rich and flavorful, it has that deep beefy flavor and is properly salted. The noodles are great, meat is fantastic (especially the meatballs), and overall it comes together into a fantastic bowl of super delicious pho. Highly recommended and I'll definitely be back again and again.
Went here recently because I’ve always seen it but never realized it was this legit. This place is tucked away in a plaza that doesn’t have much besides bills cafe and a baskin Robbin’s but don’t let appearances fool you. This place has a pretty extensive menu. I went with what I was craving and that didn’t disappoint. Matter of fact I have to togo half my food to finish off later. The wings were really good, have good flavor and texture. The seafood salad is a favorite of mine because it has a lot of variety, wish it had more shrimp though and more chips. I know the chips don’t cost much and would love to have a better chip to salad ratio. The rice plate was good too, filled me up with quality ingredients. Give this place a try, you won’t regret it.
We haven't eaten here since it was called Sonny's Cafe, it was a sad day when they closed for good. But I'm glad the doors reopened with new owners and an extensive menu. Whenever I try a new Vietnamese restaurant, I tend to order the Vermicelli bowl with any grilled protein. The portions were large and beef stuffed with onions was grilled perfectly. On my next visit I'll try their Bahn Mi's!
We’ve dined here many times since the new ownership, and it’s consistently great. The place is clean, service is always friendly, and the food hits the spot every time. The grilled pork vermicelli bowl comes loaded with fresh herbs, crisp veggies, and that perfectly charred pork. The noodles were cool and crisp. Lastly, the generous drizzle of fish sauce rounded out the bowl, making each bite bright and layered. The grilled beef & shrimp rice plate is super flavorful—juicy grilled beef with a hint of lemongrass, paired with plump grilled shrimp that had just the right snap. Served over fluffy rice with a side of greens and dipping sauce, it was a satisfying, Also love the outdoor seating out front. It’s simple but perfect for relaxing with iced Vietnamese coffee on a warm evening. Solid prices, fresh ingredients, and a laid-back vibe. Definitely a neighborhood favorite.
Hey it’s the best pho here in south San Jose. Great pho broth. Very tasty. At 10 am, it’s not easy. There are no fresh noodles here but their pho is still delicious. They have a variety of choices too. Even the vegetarian menu is great.
For a restaurant that doesn't even have much of a sign except big letters saying PHO and COFFEE on the windows.. Its a hidden gem among the Vietnamese restaurants in this area! It's interesting how the restaurant is laid out because it looks like it takes up two storefronts, complete with 2 doors. It was a little confusing to find the proper entrance but I think it's the one with a big high ceiling inside. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating with an interesting configuration. That did not mean that the owners of the place really decked the place out with Vietnamese art and pictures showing where they're from! They even have a little fountain inside. They also have a very extensive menu for this type of restaurant, particularly on the boba and coffee side (owing to its name) The food is just amazing! I ordered the beef cube steaks for $19 and it arrived on a sizzling hot plate! Both the flavor of the beef as well as the Bell peppers, onions and garlic that went with it paired very well! Waiters came by often with lemon water. I couldn't say the same for the spring rolls, even though they were hot, it felt like it was lacking substance in its filling and the dipping sauce didn't really help either... The staff is very nice, and payment is very easy with tap to pay available. Overall, I like to come back to try more of the menu, but at these prices, it's getting into premium territory so be sparingly about it along with the tip.
Bun Bo Hue was tasty, but missing the pork blood and bone. The Bo Luc Lac didn't come with the tomato rice. Those 2 things caused the 4 stars rating. Otherwise it was a nice place. I will go back and try other dishes next time.
